A Monday Meme

Here lies knowledge Back in the golden days of blogging (circa 2003/2004) I used to do question memes practically every week. Nowadays there are fewer bloggers, and fewer question memes flying around – indeed, the last time I did one was almost a year ago. Anyhow, Dave2 did one yesterday and so I’m going to have a go at it too:

  • What eye colour do you find sexiest? I don’t really have a preference but green is interesting.
  • White, milk, or dark chocolate mocha? I’ve only recently starting drinking mocha so I’d say milk chocolate on the basis that I haven’t tried the others.
  • If you could get a Sharpie tattoo on your back, what would it be? I don’t do tattoos – temporary or otherwise.
  • Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it? York was kind-of medium sized – small for a city but bigger than some places. It was okay but there wasn’t a lot for teenagers to do in those days.
  • Your favourite adult as a child? (and not your parents, if they were your favourite) I loved watching Art Attack, so I’ll say Neil Buchanan. Also, best first name ever, obviously.
  • What kind of smoothie sounds really good right now? Something simple like orange and mango, but I don’t really do smoothies.
  • Most embarrassing moment from your elementary school years? I briefly acquired the nickname ‘sticky fingers’ due to an orange-related incident.
  • Most embarrassing moment from your middle school years? Probably being on a coach, returning from a school trip, with my headphones on not noticing that everyone, including the teachers, were staring at me.
  • Most embarrassing moment from your high school years? Too many things to mention.
  • Pirates or ninjas? Why? Pirates. But them I’m a fan of Alestorm so I would say that.
  • Have you ever climbed a tree more than twenty feet off the ground? No – I was never good at climbing trees.
  • Did you like swinging as a child? Do you still get excited when you see a swing set? Yes, and no – I’m a bit old for it now.
  • If you could have any pet in the world, illegal or not, what would you get? A red panda. They are impossibly cute and suited to colder climates.
  • What’s your most favourite part of your body? I’ve been told that I have a rather pleasing rear.
  • What’s your most favourite part of your personality? I’d like to think that I have quite a good sense of humour. I’m not a comedian but I can crack the odd well-timed joke.
  • Madonna or Lady Gaga? Neither? Both? Who cares? Lady Gaga, but really I don’t care much.
  • Have you ever watched the Superbowl all the way through? No. It’s on too late at night here and American Football isn’t my thing.
  • Have you ever watched any major sporting event drunk? A few.
  • What’s the most delicious food you’ve ever eaten in your life? Probably some profiteroles in Ventimiglia in northern Italy, in 2001.
  • Margarine or butter? Which did you grow up with? I grew up with margarine, and later olive oil spread, but nowadays we’re a Lurpak household. I prefer the taste even if it is less healthy.
  • Whole, skim, 1%, or 2% milk? (Did you know they make 1 1/2% milk?) We buy semi-skimmed, which is approximately 2%.
  • Which continents have you been on? Mostly just Europe, but I’ve also been to Barbados, if that counts as North America. It’s certainly an ambition of mine to travel more widely, when time and money allow for it.
  • Do you get motion sickness? Any horror stories? Road travel – cars, buses, coaches – and ferries can give me motion sickness if I try to concentrate on something, like trying to read. I don’t have a problem on trains or whilst flying though.
  • Backpacks or satchels? I generally wear a backpack to work, and keep my camera in a satchel, so both.
  • Would you wear a rainbow jacket? A neon yellow sweater? Checkered pants? Probably not, they were bad enough in the 1980s.
  • What was your favourite cartoon growing up? I have fond memories of Rude Dog and the Dweebs.
  • If you had to have a cow or a pig, which would you take? Why? Pigs are cuter, and because bacon.
  • If you had to look at one city skyline for the rest of your life, which would it be? Probably London as there’s lots to see.
  • Longest plane ride you’ve ever been on? 7 hours – Manchester to Bridgetown, Barbados. Other than that, all of the other flights I’ve been on have been two hours or less.
  • The latest you’ve ever slept? I’ve slept until 12:30pm once, but I tend to be an early riser.
  • Would you buy a sweater covered in kitten pictures? Would you wear it if someone gave it you for free? I doubt I’d buy it, unless I was dressing up for something, but I may wear it if I was bought it for the irony.
  • Do you pick at scabs? Only when they’re close to coming off anyway.
  • Favourite kind of bean? Kidney? Black? Pinto? Can’t say I really have a preference.
  • How far can you throw a baseball? I’ve never thrown one, but my throwing skills are pretty rubbish.
  • If you had to move to another country, where would you move? Maybe Australia but I really wouldn’t want to leave Britain permanently.
  • Have you ever eaten Ethiopian food? Vietnamese? Korean? Nepalese? How was it? I don’t think I’ve knowingly tried any of those.
  • Small, liberal arts school or public university? Why? Public university, but then I work for one so I’m biased.
  • A relationship with love or one with sex? Love. Clichéd I know but I genuinely value the loving relationship Christine and I have.
  • Do you eat enough vegetables? Probably not, although I eat more than I used to. Christine cooks them more than I do.
  • Do you like horror movies? How about thrillers? Not really – I prefer more light-hearted films, like comedies and musicals.
  • Would you scratch a crotch itch in public? I’d try to do it discreetly.
  • Do you swear in front of your parents? I try not to swear at all, and I wouldn’t do it in front of my parents.
  • Coolest thing you’ve ever been for Halloween? I once tried to dress up as a vampire – it didn’t really work. I don’t really do costumes.
  • If you could change your natural hair colour, would you? To what? I don’t think I would change it.
  • Do you want to get married? Have kids? Yes. The wedding is in less than four months and I imagine we’ll have kids in the not too distant future – once we’ve bought our own house.
  • Do you use a reusable water bottle? If not, you should. I don’t really drink bottled water, so no. We have a water cooler at work and I re-use glasses for that.
  • City or nature person? I like both; I prefer to live in built up areas but I also like escaping to the country.
  • Have you ever used something other than “makeup” as makeup? (Like paint? Markers?) No. I don’t wear makeup at all.
  • Can you walk well in high heels? Even if you’re a guy? I’ve never tried.
  • Post 5 awesome things about yourself. BRAG AWAY!
    1. I still write a blog most days, almost 11 years after starting it aged 17
    2. I’m still pretty good at fixing computer problems
    3. I earn enough to live comfortably, doing a job I enjoy

  1. The sad thing is that I probably filled this out years ago and just don’t remember it!
