5 years ago yesterday, Steve Jobs announced the iPhone. It’s worth watching the video from Macworld to see how far the mobile phone industry has come in 5 years, and that it was the iPhone that led a revolution and made smartphones accessible to everyone.
It would be another 3 and a half years before I got on the iPhone bandwagon, with the iPhone 4 – mainly due to the cost and not wanting to sign a contract without knowing I had a stable long-term income. And now I’d be lost without it. It’s more than just a phone – it has my calendar, my address book, access to my email, maps, games, Twitter, Facebook, a reasonable camera and news, wherever I am. 5 years ago that may have been possible, but the iPhone made it simple.
Happy Birthday iPhone.
