This week’s app is for users of WordPress – whether you’re self-hosted like this blog is, or use wordpress.com. The WordPress iOS App is free, and lets you update all of your WordPress blogs from your iOS device – it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
While the app doesn’t give you access to all features of your dashboard, it does let you view and delete comments; write, edit and delete posts and pages, and view your blog’s statistics – if you’re a self-hosted WordPress user you’ll need to install either the WordPress.com Stats or Jetpack plugins for this tab to work. It also lets you geotag your posts with your current location and you can add pictures and movies from your phone’s library, or take a picture and upload it. It’s enough to allow you to write entries and carry out a little maintenance whilst on the move.
It supports multiple blogs, and they can be a mixture of self-hosted WordPress and WordPress.com blogs.
The app is actually open source and you can get involved in its development, should you wish to. It’s free and regularly updated to squash bugs – there’s been a couple of updates in the past two weeks.
Whilst I prefer to use a computer to blog, it’s handy having this app to approve moderated comments more quickly.
