I’m experimenting with a new design. Currently only the home page has been updated to use it, but your thoughts are welcome. I’m now using the standard Six Apart markup structure and a stylesheet based on the MT default, but with new colours and a third column.

I’ve not tested this in any browsers other than Firefox 1.5 and Internet Explorer 7, so it may be horribly broken in other browsers – please let me know if this is the case, with screenshots if possible.

Update: Well, it works fine in Safari 2, Opera 9 Beta and (shockingly) IE for Mac 5.2, but I haven’t yet had chance to try it in IE6. Should hopefully get that done later, but no-one’s piped up to say it’s broken (other than in FeedReader) so that’s a good sign.

  1. I have to be honest.
    Looks poor in Feedreader 3.02

  2. Isn’t IE6 a requirement nowadays, oh my!

  3. I’ve been thinking about it. I prefer the small columns on the left hand side, if you have to have them both together.
I like to see the main content in the middle of 3-column designs, but 3-columns on a fixed width page at approx 800 pxls is probably too much, as main content appears to be hemmed in. That’s a personal preference though.

  4. Sorry about this but –
In IE7 the left of the blog is directly on the left of the page, in Firefox, it is inset a little, and looks better.
That might be it for now !

  5. Looks fine to me in Firefox 2.0a3, looks like a cleaner design to me.

  6. I’m looking at your blog in Firefox and IE6. And, I’m posting this comment using IE6 on Windows. All my patches are up to date. If this comment works, then everything else probably works, too.
I started to make some comments about how it looks in Firefox versus IE6 on Windows, but instead decided to do some screen shots and just sent you an e-mail.

  7. looks kinda the same as the last one 😀 u should make it more interesting neil so it suits your personality better!!!1

  8. I’m sorry mate but it doesnt look any different from you previous design. Perhaps you could add some more blue or something?
