Big rollout

I don’t know how long ago this happened but appears that all of the university’s student cluster rooms are now running Windows XP Service Pack 2. This equates to several hundred machines, many of which run very specialist software for use by students on courses like Pharmacy, Optometry and Civil Engineering.
If your enterprise is holding out from SP2, then maybe you should think again. If we can manage it then you can too.

  1. Interesting. I know Resnet is pushing it, but general IT is not. We’re still waiting for it to be more ‘stable’. Not sure if that will happen. Although I get at least 2 calls each day I work at Helpdesk (four days a week) about SP2 making something weird.
I should check more into what exactly we’re waiting for.
