My iPod Mini arrived!

The box the iPod Mini arrived in The iPod Mini box My iPod Mini! Charging up
At long last, my iPod Mini arrived this morning. It’s now on charge, connected to the bundled transformer that is almost as big as the device itself. Unfortunately I won’t be able to do all that much with it until my laptop is repaired because neither my dad’s laptop or my parents’ PC have USB2 ports, although once I have iTunes installed and have the device fully-charged I’ll try anyway. Experience tells me that if you charge the device fully on first use you can greatly extend the battery life of a device so I’ll wait a few hours.
Still, I’m excited at the fact that I can call myself an ‘iPod owner’ 🙂 . Click on the photos to enlarge them.

  1. Neil,
It might be worth forking a tenner to get a Firewire card (if the minis do firewire)… as transfering via USB can be a little tedious.
Glad to hear its finally arrived though. 🙂

  2. The minis do have Firewire, yes. Unfortunately I’m a laptop user and so a Firewire card will set me back around £23 – probably not worth it as I don’t have any other Firewire devices. I’ll stick with USB2 for now and see how I go.

  3. it is rather mini…and rather green too.
usb2 isn’t too slow when copying files – certainly if you’ve been used to usb1

  4. I can relate to your excitement. I recently took delivery of a 40GB 3G iPod and it thrills me everytime I use it.
I agree with the previous comments, you should opt for Firewire if possibly it’s quicker than USB and charges your iPod while connected!

  5. I’m so jealous, even though I have no use for one!
I would have though USB2 would be fine: surely you only download the entire collection once and then it’s just a CD or two every so often?

  6. “surely you only download the entire collection once and then it’s just a CD or two every so often”
I guess it depends on how you do music. I consume new material voraciously, so there’s always a lot to transfer when I sync the iPod. YMMV.

  7. Now all you need is a shiny new Macintosh to go with it and your assimilation will be complete! 🙂

  8. Chris, with USB2 the transfer speeds are slightly faster than when using Firewire.

  9. Green… You clearly have good taste Neil. Nice choice!

  10. I am so going to get one now.
