It is an ex-parrot. It has ceased to be.

I am now the proud owner of a video containing 85 minutes of footage from Monty Python’s Flying Circus. It was only £1.99 in the HMV sale (which starts today), and seeing as I got a free lolly with it I felt the investment was wise. I would have bought the DVD but not having a DVD player would make watching it quite difficult.
Although I didn’t drink much last night I still woke up with a headache this morning, and struggled through my first lecture at 9am, which fortunately was quite short. It would have finished earlier if it weren’t for the fact that our lecturer had forgotten has password to log onto the main campus network and had to go and retrieve it. The second lecture of the day wasn’t much of an event either – mostly an introduction to the module.
Lunch was spent down the pub – The Head, incidentally, which does very nice reasonably priced food (although the ‘combo for 2’ barely feeds one person) – followed by a trip into town and then a brief lab session back at university which basically consisted of ensuring that we could log onto the department’s PostgresSQL database – with it being a database module being able to do this is quite important. That was followed by my final lecture which almost sent me to sleep.
So, now I’m back here on my room, contemplating what to have for dinner tonight. At the moment it’s looking like Chicken Kiev and chips because I don’t have the energy to do anything fancy. Although I could go out tonight it’s more likely that I’ll go to see Johnny English at the student cinema and then clock out early.

  1. I got the Monty movies for Christmas 😀
Johnny English is pretty cool too. I Mailed you a screenshot or two 😉

  2. Well, I haven’t got a DVD player either, but I’ve got a DVD drive in my computer – but the TV’s down stairs… Hmm, I’ll have to do a blog post myself about how I’ve worked round that issue – it’s not the “cheapest solution around” (and therefore perhaps not be suitable for you studenty types), but it may give you some ideas.
When I’ll get time for blogging though is another matter – in 25hours, my poor ADSL connection has pushed around over 7Gb of data and it’s not even half-completed the downloads I need 🙁 It’s practically impossible to do anything with a connection that slow – I *need* to get a 1Mb link at a minimum. Thank goodness I’m not modem dependent like somebody I could name 😉
