The Friday Five

I will get a proper entry up here at somepoint but my brain is in hibernation at the moment so I can’t think of anything to write. This will have to do.

1. What’s the last place you traveled to, outside your own home state/country?

I went to France a few weeks ago. I managed to get half of my holiday report written up here but never got around to doing the rest of it – sorry about that 😮 . I had a very good time though.

2. What’s the most bizarre/unusual thing that’s ever happened to you while traveling?

A couple of years ago I went to Romania on a field trip with college. The whole country is quite bizarre, in my opinion, but one of the most bizarre things was seeing gypsy families taking horses and carts onto the motorways. We were cruising at 100mph while they were doing about 5mph along the hard shoulder.

3. If you could take off to anywhere, money and time being no object, where would you go?

I really want to go to the US, just really to see what it’s like over there, and possibly meet a few people that I’ve met on the ‘net. I’d also like to go to Dublin and Amsterdam at some point – they’re both supposed to be really nice places and I’ve never been before.

4. Do you prefer traveling by plane, train or car?

I think trains are best, particularly the fast ones in Europe where they can do not far off 200mph at full whack. I’ve travelled from the south of France to north of England by train(s) before and it was great. Flying is alright but it can be a bit boring because often all you see out of the windows is either clouds or water, and I’m not keen on long-haul flights because you often can’t get up and walk around. And cars are alright but sometimes I get a bit travel sick, particularly if I’m in the back seat of a car with poor suspension on a naff road.

5. What’s the next place on your list to visit?

Well, I’m going to Sheffield tomorrow with my parents and grandparents…
