Railway facts

Did you know there are 6 types of TGV? Neither did I, until today. In case you’re unaware, the railways are one of my interests besides computing and music, and the TGVs are certainly one of my favourite trains. The most recent incarnations of these trains travel close to 300km/h (186mph) at top speed, and yes, I have been on one, back in 1999 when I travelled from Tours Saint-Pierre-des-Corps to Paris Gare-du-Lyon, and it certainly was an experience. The journey took about 1 hour 20 minutes; an equivalent journey this side of the channel would take just under 2 hours if you were lucky.
