Note to self: if your Knoppix CD is very scratched, don't bother with it and burn a new one. I managed to get it to boot, but it took the best part of 45 minutes. Normally it takes 3 at the most.
On the plus side I got to see how this site renders in Konqueror (it needs a little tweaking).
In any case I need to upgrade to Knoppix 3.7 - this CD only has 3.6 on it. I think I'll get myself a copy of Ubuntu Linux too.
