Well, this is interesting. Christine of Big Pink Cookie and Molly Holzschlag of Molly.com have both switched to WordPress despite being MT users for as long as I can remember (Molly even wrote a book about using MT). Both links via Photomatt.

All these wonderful stories of people switching over to WordPress have are impressive! I’m giving it serious thought at this stage. How about yourself Neil?
BTW, did you mean to link to photomatt.com? photomatt.net no?

Ooops, thanks. Link corrected.
I’m more than happy with MT3. Most of the things that annoyed me about 2.6 are gone in this release. WordPress has a lot of potential but I don’t think it’s at the same level of ease of use that MT is at. It’s also lacking the same level of template customisation that MT has and can’t cope with multiple weblogs unless you create multiple installations of WordPress.

b2evolution has been hailed as easier to work with than MT (though template creation takes some getting used to) and it supports multiple blogs. FYI both WordPress and b2evolution are b2/cafelog forks. You can find an article I wrote about some of the alternatives to MT here. I appreciate all comments on the article. Out of about 100 responses to the article I have received only two people have said I am biased against MT (I included an entire paragraph about my history with blogging software to quell such fears, I’ve been doing this for a long time and I maintain that I am not biased against MT) the majority of readers (many of whom have since switched to b2evolution or WordPress have agreed that MT has seen its day. I will be addressing a few of the concerns and issues that have been raised by the article in a brief followup to appear in the next few days as time allows.

Hey, more people moving over to WP. I’ve never used MT, and looking over the site, I don’t think I want to. While MT may be able to have more than one blog, it appears to cost to have more than one author. And cost a lot. I’m not against that sort of thing in general, but the price is quite steep for blogging software. I don’t generally think of people spending lots of money on a blog or network of blogs.
